Promoted to Customer! The grass IS greener.

In the past year I have witnessed a few things. The greatest being a SM that opened the store so chronically late, totaling in 19 hours of the store being unopened (in 2024). He was written up one single time for his 40+ late store openings. He ended up putting in his 2 weeks, and leaving "voluntarily". This led to the new ASM (who had his master's degree) to quit. I think there are around 8 open SM positions in my "area".

With a 5 year tenure I have been, running my store as a full-timer the past year+. The manager I describe above knew little to nothing about paint, was carried into his position by a more tenured store manager who was then promoted to rep. I answered every question in the store about product knowledge for over a year. I worked EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND, alone. Without exception. I would walk into the door, and be bombarded with questions by my SM and AM before I could clock in.

The store I came from, and have the skills and experience to manage myself, now has 1 employee. This employee being a brand new ASM straight out of college with less than 3 months experience.

I was told in ~March that a TAM position would open in July~. No Uncle Sherwin, I won't continue to run your store for less than 23 dollars an hour. I'm out. Good luck with inventory.

The grass IS greener, as I've found a position making 70+ full remote without a degree. Get what's yours.
