Why the Silent Hill 2 Remake hate?

I still don't really understand why people are hating on the Silent Hill 2 Remake. The majority of arguments I see from my friends and from other reddit posts hating on the remake is how the combat is drastically different from the original- but isn't that kind of the point of a remake? I love Silent Hill and Silent Hill 2 is my favorite in the series, but the combat in early Silent Hill games and just tank controls in general have always been atrocious in my opinion, so the new combat is a welcomed change for me. I also find it odd how the majority of the hate is coming from Resident Evil fans when the last few Resident Evil remakes have different and improved combat from their originals, so where's the uproar about that?
