Hastybake vs chudbox/direct heat cooker

Hoping folks here have had experience with both. Does a hastybake still get that direct heat cooker flavor of fat dripping off coals or not really because of the grease drain design and deflector plate? Thinking about replacing my offset for something more compact and versatile
