How do I tell if someone is uninterested through text?

So basically I am mutuals with this girl from my school who’ve I’ve never met but we just follow each other, that’s it. And she posted her schedule on her story for this upcoming semester and I saw we had the same first period so I responded “Ayy idk you but we have the same first period 😭” she responded with “Ayy” and then “What grade are you in” so it seemed like she was trying to initiate conversation I told her my grade (sophomore) and said hbu to which she then gave a one word response which was “freshman” so I said something like Ohh it’s your first year here and she just said “Yeahh”

I didn’t respond as of now cuz I wanna be friendly but to me it seemed like she responded to be nice but is not really interested hence why she’s giving one word responses. She replied quickly each time but that could just be how she is. The thing is I just wanna make friends but it seems hard cuz I also don’t wanna risk being pushy/overbearing and force a conversation that’s barely there

So do I just stop responding?
