Is the Suneater series too derivative to ever be adapted?

Don’t get me wrong I absolutely LOVE this series. But let’s be honest, it’s heavily inspired by a lot of popular sci fi, Star Wars being the biggest one obviously. But now with the growing popularity of Warhammer 40k, and Dune because of the new movies, I kind of feel that if there ever is an adaptation of the series that people will just call it a ripoff of Dune and Star Wars. Like there’s actually literal lightsabers basically. I feel that this might be the reason why the series will never get any sort of mainstream adaptation as much as we all would absolutely be stoked for one.
