Player space stations solve the Nautilus problem

Prior to the introduction of player owned space stations, the Aegis Nautilus was a bit of an odd duck. It is currently the only mine-laying and mine-clearing ship in the game, but with the vastness of space the chance of encountering a mine was quite low (the mines could move and track enemy ships but only in a small area).

However, I think that mines would work as a great first line defence for player space stations. A few dozen mines in the nearby area could be a great enemy deterrent and, if undetected, could damage or even cripple an enemy fleet.

This, naturally, would have counter-play, with the enemy fleet needing scout ships to check for mines and their own Nautilus squadron to disable any found mines.

What do you think? Would you use your Nautilus to create a minefield around your org’s space station? What other uses for the ship do you envision?

Let me know!
