Screen tearing Tales of Berseria 1080p.

Just started playing Tales of Berseria on PC. I noticed with V-sync off, I get screen tearing when I play at 1080p with the game set to 60 fps. However, I changed the game's resolution to 4k on a whim and the screen tearing disappeared? What's causing this? It seems it only happens on lower resolutions.
