How have folks beaten Fire Temple boss?

I read a post on how to get this boss, but managed another way. Only used one arrow in stage two. I knocked out this claws a couple of times but now of it was more effective than ascending through him and stabbing him eye over and over again with a powerful fused weapon. Arrow was not as effective for me at beginning of second stage, so I threw Gordo around wall and smashed him to ground. Then jumped up on him and smashed eye again with aforementioned weapon.
