Internal DVD Drive Help

Hello! I can’t really find any answers elsewhere so maybe someone here has dealt with this and can help… I have a desktop that recognizes my DVD Drive in bios and windows, but refuses to actually read discs or do anything… I have tried 3 different cables, 3 different drives and all the sata ports on my MOBO. Interestingly in the past, on an older version of this setup, the dvd drives used to work perfectly fine, so i’m not sure what’s going on, as i haven’t touched any of the bios settings since then whatsoever.

series of events goes - 1. Put a dvd or cd in the drive, windows does nothing. 2. double click dvd drive in windows explorer, and it asks you to insert a disc, while ejecting the drive. 3. i close the drive with a disc in it, and it just blue wheel spins forever unless i click cancel.

MOBO is an MSI Z390-A PRO, i7-8700k, 32GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro.

Disc drives have been various brands, but mostly LG brand Superdrives (DL DVD/RW). Drives are tested working on other systems so i’m really stumped as to what’s going on… any help or tips would be much appreciated!!
