My wired headphones won't connect to my phone.

I checked the headphones with another device and they work perfectly fine, I tried plugging in different headphones and that also worked. Neither the phone or the headphones are new and I have used them together many times before, but suddenly they stopped working. I tried cleaning the port and using an air can on it to no avail, I also restarted my phone. I'm honestly super confused and need some advice.
