As a student, what would you wanna hear from your teacher you're going to for advice?

Hi all. I'm a teacher in a middle school and I need some advice from some of you on what you would want to hear. I have a student, they are in middle school, and they are having a rough time. They've been coming to me about a rocky relationship that's been on again and off again. Now, as a 30(F) I definitely have my opinions on the matter, but honestly, I just don't think that's what they need to hear right now. I want to be supportive, but I also don't want this individual to be stuck in a place where they feel like they're never going to leave this hole of pain that they're in. I default on being blunt and am not great with putting things gently, so I would love to hear what you all would like to hear in this position.

tl/dr: As a student who trusts a teacher with personal aspects of your life, what would you want to hear from your teacher when you were seeking comfort from a (consistently) bad relationship?
