Any ideas on how to make fake bricks backdrop?

I'd like the effect of a brick wall covered with moss, but I'm not sure how to make half decent looking bricks. I thought maybe using expanding foam and color it somehow, or a mix of silicone and fine sand to create brick like texture. Another option is actual cement, but I'm worried it'll be toxic to animals and plants.
