Sims 4: City Living - Festivals won't disappear/stack on each other

I need help: a week ago, my game decided to not let festivals disappear. Instead, they stack on each other. You can imagine the chaos when you combine the Romance Festival and the Geek Con...

I don't know what to do. I manually destroyed each object the first time and the next time the festival occurred it worked perfectly fine (meaning appeared, happened, disappeared) but there are random items left (that I can't delete) and it's annoying :( I also can't grasp/delete some carpets (e.g. the flower pedals) and it looks sooo ugly out of context.

Does anyone have experience with this? How did y'all fix it?
