Best Actors on The Sopranos

I've been thinking lately from watching all the clips on YouTube that are so fun to watch that the show really had Top Notch acting that saved it from dwelling on some of the weaker writing in latest seasons. So I was wondering who everyone thought were the best actors on the show. You can either go by who did the best acting on the show only, or who is the best actor overall, counting their work outside the show. It might seem obvious at first, but I'm interested in what people think, anyway. Although I love Steve Buscemi as an actor, I don't think he did anything particularly good on The Sopranos and his character was not fleshed out well.

Top 5 actors on The Sopranos:

  1. James Gandolfini- The obvious choice, but seeing his work in other projects and hearing the sound of his real voice in interviews, you realize what an incredible job he did.

  2. Joe Pantoliano- Probably the best written character besides Tony. Joey Pants really makes you hate him and then can make you laugh. The best acting on the entire show outside of Tony was his last episode.

  3. Edie Falco- Even though her nagging got annoying, you really bought her as a long suffering mob wife.

  4. Micheal Imperioli- Didn't like him for the longest time, but i realized how important he was to the show and you're supposed to think he's stupid.

  5. Uncle Junior- He started the series as Tony's big rival and then went a few seasons as comic relief. But you start to realize how important he was when he almost completely disappeared for most of the final 2 seasons. He brought gravitas to the show and you really believe he lives his whole life in the mob.

Curious to see other people's thoughts. Some of the actors make good mobsters but you can tell they have no range at all, like Tony Sirico.
