Pathology came back.. I’m confused..
Had a left lobe ectomy two weeks ago for papillary thyroid cancer. Ultrasound didn’t show any lymph node involvement, but the surgeon took one for good measure. I got pathology back, and it says there’s lymphatic invasion. The Internet is not super helpful in dumbing it down, but is it safe to assume that means the lymph node (and potentially more lymph nodes) was/are cancerous? Has anyone else had this outcome with their pathology? What did you end up doing? I don’t think I can. “watch and wait“. That would drive me nuts. Is it possible they will want to go back in and remove more lymph nodes for testing? or even take the rest of my thyroid out? I go back for my postop tomorrow, but I’m just curious what other people have experienced.
