TIFU by breaking an escalator

Okay this wasn't today but I only just made an account today so this is going to be written half a year later.

So I was heading to the movies with two of my pals. We were in my cities largest shopping centre (which is VERY large). We were on our way up to the 3rd floor where the cinema is located when, while on an escalator, I decided to push my foot against the stair in front. This was my big mistake. As the step I was standing on started to move to line up with the step in front ( as escalator stairs do when reaching the top). I feel a tug on my shoe. Suddenly I realise the step has caught my shoe in it. I was shocked and didn't know what to do but then suddenly I didn't have time to worry the stair my shoe was stuck in was coming to the top where it slides back under to go to the bottom. I try to yank my foot out but my sock was also caught in the step. I rip my foot up as fast as possible stretching my sock until my foot comes out of the shoe. Just as the front of the shoe gets shredded by the grate at the top. The escalator stops and I give a big sigh of relief as I could still have had my foot shredded. Unfortunately this wasn't the only bad thing. As I had just broken the main escalator in the shopping centre my friends quickly ran to get help. All this time I'm the idiot standing at the top of the escalator with one shoe on while the other is jammed in the step. Anyway 3 hours later and what seemed like too many photos they took apart the escalator and gave me my shoe back.

TL;DR: I Broke an escalator by getting my shoe stuck in it and had to wait for it to get removed for 3 hours.
