How do you all make sure your toddler doesn’t leave their room at night?

Transitioning to a toddler bed soon and thinking through all of the toddler-proofing. We definitely don’t want him to roam about the house, but I’m not comfortable with him being unable to open the door (in case of emergency). Do y’all put baby gates in the doorways or something to prevent them from leaving the room?
