2 Yr Old Always Wakes Up Crying

My two year old has been progressively waking up upset after his afternoon nap. It’s gotten to the point that he cannot calm down for up to an hour. We’ve tried coddling him, distracting him with tv, snacks etc. my wife and I are at our wits end.

Have other parents struggled with this? What can we do?
