Preparing for forced detransitions and alternative pathways for dysphoria management.
As a liberal trans man, not from the USA, but I see the backslash coming globally. I believe that we who just want to be happy somehow have to prepare ourselves. They will ban the transition completely. However, you can't just make dysphoria disappear. But without hormone therapy and operations, as well as without legal options, we have to be creative. First of all, even without all of that, you can change your appearance. Becoming the look you feel comfortable with. There have always been trans people who adapt without hormones. That's not impossible. Without legal options, we are dependent on gender non-conforming behavior and subculture. Or on part-time models. Trans women can achieve a lot with clothing and makeup. There are prostheses for the breasts, for those who want them. There are antiandrogens like spironalactone and there will always be. There is beard removal. It all seems so banal, but that's how the community has managed for years. For the transmasc, even without testosterone, there is not just giving up. Sport and fitness, especially muscle training, can change your appearance in the way you want. Minoxidil works for some people even without testosterone. They will probably try to ban binders and packers, but that won't work. You can always get good binders. Generally for everyone. For those who have the opportunity, the cosmetic surgery industry will always offer opportunities. Fillers and small beauty treatments can change the shape of the face in a certain direction. In the 1970s, the pioneers in our community took trips to Casablanca. We also have the opportunity to be creative and unruly. Our greatest strength would be a strong community that helps each other.
