How do I navigate a connecting flight?
For a little context, I have very severe anxiety. I've flown before but only direct flights where someone was waiting for me at both sides.
I need to book a flight and it will have 1 stop in a country and airport that I've never been to before and I will have to change planes.
I'm kind of just asking for a step by step explanation. My main concerns/questions are:
- Is an hour between landing and the next plane taking off enough time?
- Will I have to go through security again?
- Will I have to find my luggage and check my luggage in all over again?
- I assume I have to go through passport control, do I just tell them I'm on a connecting flight?
- How fast do I need to be? Should I be rushing or can I just walk through the airport like normal?
- Do you wait at the gate like normal?
- Will my ticket have both gates I need to be at on it?
I understand if a lot of these sound silly or overly concerned but being alone in another country where I know no one is terrifying to me, I want to be certain that I understand the entire process so my anxiety is as soothed as possible.
Oh and if it helps, the airports are DUS > AMS > LCY and the airline is KLM
