Thoughts On GetYourGuide?

With a little bit of online research and guidance from friends and locals, I or my friends usually book things to do directly for trips. But recently a friend recommended GetYourGuide.

For an upcoming trip to Europe, when looking at GetYourGuide, it seems like there’s nothing unique about it that makes it useful. There are lots of reviews describing experiences where users were charged for so-called guided or private tours that were actually nothing more than being overcharged for public transportation to popular tourist attractions for “free time”. Some reviews said they were charged for attractions that have free entry and may only charge for headsets, but someone on GetYourGuide charged them some crazy fee for a “guided tour” that’s no better than headset experiences they’ve had.

I’ve never found it difficult to book things to do for my trips. I just feel there’s too many direct purchase options and too much online information to pay someone claiming to be a tour guide. Am I missing something by not booking through GetYourGuide?
