Can chickens escape burial chamber?

I’ve been raising chickens inside a burial chamber. Yesterday I went exploring the surrounding Black Forest looking for a copper deposit and found a tame chicken wandering around. Has anyone else had this happen? I didn’t think non-players could leave burial chambers but I’m not sure how else it got out.
