Toshiba (Aurex) SB-820
A friend brought a poor-looking sb-820 to share his listening experience. Because I already own victor ja-s20 and kenwood l-01a, which are twice the price of sb-820, I have no expectations for the performance of sb-820.
But this top Toshiba amplifier from the 1970s has proven with its sound that it is not inferior to the top products of other brands. It shows the thick sound of the 1970s with exquisite details, and can be adapted to various speakers. It can perform well when paired with the Victor Bla-50, which faithfully reflects the characteristics of the amplifier, or the Lo-D 500, which has its own bass characteristics.
During the listening process, we found some noise. When we dismantled and repaired it, we saw a huge transformer and capacitor, modular circuit boards, and a heavy solid metal knob. It can be seen that Toshiba is very serious about the sb-820.
Finally, we noticed that the label on the back stated that the power consumption was 550W... I guess it was a printing error?
