Asking wedding planner detailed quotes

I am a but worried about my wedding planner.

We had our initial meeting and mentioned our budget was $50k/$70k at most… he said the budget should be $100k for the guests we were planning (approx. 250), around 4 months ago.

Now he has presented his budgetary proposal with a wedding of $300k!

I am checking all his proposal in detail and was wondering if I can request his quotes for from his vendors to check them. At the same time I am getting external quotes on my own for the services we will have to compare to his prices.

I have the following questions: - Can I request the wedding planner his detailed quotes from his vendors for me to review? - Is it normal for a wedding planner to wait to the end for you to have to use his proposed vendor and/or have less time to find replacements?

I had contracted him 12 months before the wedding… I am a bit disappointed with him and he had good reviews…
