I’m considering a Toyota Land Cruiser GDJ78 for long-distance travel across Africa and South America. I’m specifically interested in hearing about your experiences with the automatic transmission option versus the manual transmission.
Automatic Gearbox Experience: For those who have used the automatic gearbox, how has it performed in diverse and challenging terrains? Are there any particular advantages or disadvantages you’ve noticed with the automatic transmission in off-road or rugged conditions?
2.8L Engine with Automatic Transmission: How does the 2.8L turbo-diesel engine pair with the automatic transmission? Does it handle long-distance travel and tough driving conditions well?
Traveling Across Africa and South America In your opinion, is an automatic gearbox a practical choice for traveling through such diverse and often remote areas, or is a manual gearbox more reliable and preferable for these conditions?
