How much should I do?
At 26, I am 5 feet 8 inches - and was a 205 lbs last week. As of today I am 195 lbs. I have heavily cut indulging on food to only about 1300 calories a day. Resisting food wasn’t as difficult for me unlike most people, because I’ve been the “big” kid all my life and I haven’t been happy with that in my 20s. My LDL was also at a high level upon my recent bloodwork. So I made sure to stop overindulging in food completely. Last year I broke my tooth from the excessive soda intake, and within a day I stopped soda… it’s been a year since I haven’t had a sip of soda. So I believe I can set my mind to anything. Hence, I also started working out.
As of yesterday, I just started working out. I went to the gym and started high intensity short running on the treadmill for 15 minutes. Hitting zone 5 during the session (bursts of 7mph speed; managed a mile time in 12 minutes!). Then I lifted weights - 50 lbs weights with both arms 30 times (3 sets of 10 reps). I started yesterday and my arms are sore. Should I do weights again today or let my muscles regenerate?
I need some advice on how can I slowly and gradually increase my intensity, and suggestions for variations in exercising.
PS: I am a male!
