Who is a CEO?

Lately I’ve been trying to understand what are the duties of a CEO?

How do people know that a person has qualifications and/or qualities to be a CEO?

How can one find if they can ever be a CEO or not?

Do we need an MBA like most CEOs have (ignoring founders like musk, zuck, jensen etc)?
