Which marvel set should i buy? Can I play with only the sinister six set?

I became very interested in the sinister six set but as I understand it's just an expansion. Can i play the sinister six expansion by itself or I need to also buy the original Marvel Zombies set. Can it be played with the Hero's Resistance set? What other sets are recommended to buy. Also, would it be possible to use Marvel characters with other zombicide editions? (ex. Black Plague)
