Those seem to be some perpetually lingering aspects in the East End. Not being pessimistic, but realistic. In regards to gentrification, it has definitely come a long way over the years. But proximity to the bayou still means flooding. Proximity to the inner city means homelessness and crime. There is lots of pollution for sure. They recently discovered a piece of land with toxic soil. That being said, there are many envisioned plans for redevelopment in the coming years, and some are taking place now. I personally love the area, it's a very interesting part of town. I am going to assume property will be more expensive there in the future.
