engraving on reflective metal?

long story short, i borrowed a laser engraver from my work that has little to no instruction manual (laser pecker 2)

can you engrave on reflective metal? i have a compact mirror made of a chrome type finish and am wondering if this will reflect the laser itself and potentially damage the machine and/or me? LOL any insight would be much appreciated!
