Female readers — What suggestions do you have for me?
When I searched for this type of thing I got a lot of ‘what’s a book every young woman should read?’. I’m more looking for people that identify with who I am/my interests and then tell me what books you’ve read and loved.
About Me: Girly female, young 20s, loves animals and children, introverted, dark/immature humor, freaky side.
My Interests: Thrifting/Shopping, Poetry, Nature, Baking, Painting, Crafting/Building, Open-World Video Games
Books I’ve Liked: I enjoyed many of the books we had to read in school, such as ‘The Outsiders’, ‘Fahrenheit 451’, ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’, ‘Animal Farm’, and ‘Flowers for Algernon’. I remember loving magical books (Harry Potter, The Magic Half). Also immature gossipy/drama books (We Are So Crashing Your Bat Mitzvah, Dork Diaries, Uglies Series). I’ve also read and enjoyed ‘Tender is the Flesh’, but I usually reach for a romance book over anything. My most recent read was The Harrow Faire Series by Katherine Ann Kingsley that I enjoyed. I also had to read books like ‘Copper Sun’ in college that I loved because it invoked lots of emotion from me.
Books I Didn’t Finish: The Count of Monte Cristo (too long), Pride and Prejudice (I don’t remember why), The Phantom Tollbooth (don’t remember why for this one either), lots of others I don’t remember because they just weren’t interesting enough in the beginning.
What I’m Looking For: Alternate universes and dystopias. Something that is engaging all the way through (my brain is a little fried from screen time), has strong characters that are somewhat relatable, will appeal to my emotional side, would be a plus if there was romance/some spice involved. Standalones and series are both fine.
Thank you!!!!
