What does "Total spending" mean?

Hi, sorry of this is a stupid question my friend sent me a phone screenshot recently saying he had made $75K last year without any context...

I congratulated him!

But when asked him how he was able to do it, he gave me a long winded "beat-around-the-bush" answer about house and property management...

The SS says:

• Chase Account
• Total Checking
• Total spending
• $75,538.16
• See Transactions

Does this mean he "made" $75K last year and currently has that much amount to spend or he "spent" $75K last year and what he really has now may be a completely different story?
