I use a Kasa Smart Strip which you can set on a timer to come on and off. You can also use Alexa to control it if you need to break a set schedule.

Cutting power to the mac may not be best. Every time you let the battery drain from 100% to 80%, that's 1/5 of a discharge cycle. I seriously doubt if, once the battery is already at 100% charge voltage, leaving it at that higher voltage for a day or two is going to cause degradation equal to a 1/5-discharge.
