126k miles on a 2018 is high, it would likely be one of the highest mileage options in your market which means it has to be priced as one of the lowest as well. If the hatch costs $3k to repair they’ll have to pay a body shop, dealers don’t fix body damage.

We decided to take it to a dealership because she wanted to look at cars and carvana’s $9,500 wouldn’t cover the loan and that’s the only way we could afford to get a new car because this one has been such a nuisance. In the KBB estimate email it said we would be eligible for that price if we took it to an authorized dealer.

Oh boy... I'd say OP is lucky the dealer even gave an offer. First off, a 2018 is 6/7 years old now. With 126,000 the BEST annual drive is 18k miles a year. The average someone drives in a year is about 13.5k. This vehicle has some serious wear on it with that kind of driving as that's at least 4.5k miles more than average every year. Even worse is the fact it already has 50k miles on a 5 month old engine...that's 10k miles a month!

I will say, the engine was rebuilt and already had the 50k miles on it. We’ve only actually put maybe 1.5k miles on it in the 5 months it’s been in the car.
