Sweetgum Kriyuls are an ethnic group of mixed-race people primarily living in Madison County, Ohio and around Vermillion and Lorain, Ohio and in the Appalachian Mountains from Virginia to Newfoundland as well as along the North Carolina Outerbanks and the peninsulas and islands of the Chesapeake Bay. Most Sweetgum Kriyul people live in Newport News, Virginia and London, Ohio and near Beulah Beach on Lake Erie. Sweetgum Kriyul are a mix of West African, Northern European, and Native American.
