I've talked with so many narcissists in the past 3 years, and many confess that they feel like isolated kids in their own bodies... all while the "False Self" (this entity that took place since childhood) seeks Supply and Validation from everyone.

you are very right about having to emulate actors from old school movies because he had no father to teach him certain things. his dad died from an overdose and after that his family was broken because things weren’t the same after his death. and his mom isolated him and let him fend for himself after that (they had money) so the mom would just leave and give him money to take care of himself for days sometimes weeks and all he ever talks about is how they could have done more, taught him more and i’ve brought it up to him how because of them abandoning him to deal with his emotions by himself is the reason he does it to me. because he didn’t find it fair to have to deal with things on his own and now he wants others to suffer the way he did. surprisingly he just said “maybe” and didn’t start a whole fight.

It is painful, and sad... and we are free when we understand that we met them years (even decades) after the death of their True Self. It's unfair, and lonely. My ex-husband told me how lonely he was as well... he told me about the sexual abuse, and there are some parts of the story I will never know, and at this point I have processed the relationship, and I don't want to know to be honest.

Anyway, I was always grateful for isolation from my ex and my mother because I was the only time I could ever be myself and not on eggshells.
