I'm going through this now! when I talk with her about things like autistic burnout and how I just learned about it and it relates to me more than depression, and I provide examples, or I say 'hey you know this thing I do and struggle with, it turns out it's super common in people with autism and women with audhd!' and I'm feeling like I finally understand myself, she says things that I know she means as encouragement 'we all feel that way sometimes. Don't let a label define you' but actually just feel invalidating.

I totally understand that feeling when they say things that are supposed to make you feel better but actually they really don’t - arghhh! I’m sorry you’re feeling that way too. It’s mega frustrating. I guess that’s the RSD/emotional dysregulation hey 🙃 I’m trying to tell myself they’re just not as educated on the subject as I am and it’s not their fault but at the same time they know how to use google right?! 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

Your sister is actually pretty right about the hormones which exacerbate our AuDHD. PMDD is horribly common for us.

That’s not what was meant by what she said though, I know hormones play a huge part day to day. From her words/reaction it very much feels like it was said in a way of ‘it’s probably just your hormones instead’ and she has discredited the medical diagnosis, as if I frickin made up how I feel and experience things. She’s said she doesn’t see it in me - so what, I’m making it up?!
